We hired Ideal Building to transform our unfinished basement into comfortable living space, essentially doubling the square footage in our 1925 Wallingford Bungalow. We added an office, a new ¾ bathroom, a large storage closet, a laundry space, and a larger family room with a wet bar and fridge.

We worked with an architect on the concept and had some basic ideas of how we wanted the space to look and feel. Since it was a small space to begin with, our architect suggested using salvaged storefront windows as the walls of the office. We also wanted an exposed concrete floor with radiant heating. So, while this was a basement refinish project, it was far from typical.

Working with Robert Martini was always easy. He was very enthusiastic about our ideas for the project – especially the window walls and the concrete floor – and offered many great suggestions on how to improve the design. Similar to every owner, we were concerned with the project’s budget and schedule. Robert worked with us extensively – offering suggestions on alternate materials or carving out pieces for us to do ourselves – so that we could achieve our goals as well as maintain our budget and schedule.

Robert was always professional, punctual, and reliable. I would hire Ideal Building again if we ever embark on a home remodel or addition.
